Fred - that sounds like a pretty early nest start, since the Yellowbook
shows a first egg date of March 21 for that species. At the rate of one egg
per day, the first egg may have been delivered on March 13.
By the way - one Bluebird box at Pickering Creek Audubon Center had a nest
with one egg on March 18th. That was six days earlier than seen on the
Pickering Creek trails since 2002 when such record-keeping began.
Yellowbook listing shows March 12th as the first egg date for Bluebirds, so
our bird is not pushing any local records.

Subject: [MDOSPREY] speaking of nest boxes...
I was in NJ for a few days so don't know the exact date, but when I returned
on 3/16, my Carolina Wren was brooding at least 4 eggs. The male has
discovered the amplification properties of the condominium breezeway and has
been going off at around 0630. I'm sure the neighbors love him. I stuck my
head out to have a look this morning and my ears are still ringing. That is
one LOUD bird without assistance; with the breezeway it's SuperWren.
