I have had substantial computer problems and been unable to post lately, but
I still enjoyed reading the MDOsprey posts noting the spring migration is on! I
had a couple new (FOY) yard birds here this week:
Today I saw a single Great Egret at Jug Bay, it had nice showy plumes. Even
in the rain and poor light it was nice to see this bird. This FOY is the earliest
migrant here for me by more than two weeks (previous early date was April 7).
Sunday I had a Chipping Sparrow show up at the feeder just before dark.
Three years in a row, the FOY chippie here showed up at the same feeder just
before dark, gorging down food.
Friday I saw a group of ten GB Herons (migrants) come in together and land at
Jug Bay just before dusk. They immediately spread out a little and began
hunting! I watched one promptly snare and gobble upt a catfish.
Cheers!
