Last Saturday I took a friend to explore Blackwater NWR and all the backroads 
that Bill Hubick showed us on our February trip. I saw about the same birds at 
Blackwater as Harry Armistead did. As we headed down Hooper's Island Road, 
we found two Great egrets and 3 Snowy egrets in a small pond right by the 
road.

No short-eared owls or harriers on Cedar Creek Rd but the marsh at 5:00 p.m. 
was breathtaking - and cold. A wonderful day to be out.
