I spent this morning birding at Tuckahoe State Park and along Rt. 309 and
had some good finds. Not many new migrants, but enough to make it a nice
morning out. I just listed the highlights.
Tuckahoe:
    Northern Waterthrush -1 seen
    Louisiana Waterthrush - 3 singing
    Common Yellowthroat - 1
    Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - a couple
    Green Heron - 3
    Ovenbird - many
    Field Sparrow - singing everywhere
Pine Warbler - many ... had the great experience at the playground where
Pine Warblers and Chipping Sparrows were both trilling.
Towhees - many and singing constantly
    Phoebee - 2, one singing
Tuckhoe Lake had fishermen in boats.

At a field pond just off of Rt. 309 on the way to Tuckahoe were many Snipe,
one Greater and one Lesser Yellowlegs standing together and 2 drake Blue
Winged Teals!

Yesterday at CBEC, at least 6 Gannets were diving and putting on a great
show. A single male Canvasback sat in the visitors pond, providing great
views at 15 feet. The highight that made you go Wow! occurred when
something spooked the thousands of Ruddy Ducks plus a few Canvasbacks, Ring
necked Ducks, Scaup and Bufflehead. They all lifted off with much splashing
and wing noise, flew about a foot or two off of the water for maybe 100
yards and then dropped back in. Good stuff.
