Hi Everybody,
The Kent County Bird Club will be running an all day trip to the salt
marshes, fresh water impoundments, woods, and fields of Bombay Hook
National Wildlife Refuge on Sunday the 27th of April. Nancy and I will
meet participants at the Dollar General parking lot in Chestertown
across from the end of Spring St. (and between Maple St - MD-213 and
Philosopher's Terrace) at 8:00 AM. The current forecast for Sunday is
cloudy with a chance of showers and temperatures on the cool side.
Participants should consider bringing along rain gear and a light
jacket, although of course the forecast is subject to change. Shorebird
and songbird migrations are heating up, and most of the possible herons
and marsh birds should be present so the bird list ought to be diverse
and exciting. Recent sightings from Bombay Hook include American
Avocets, American Golden-Plover, American Bittern, and the return of the
refuge's nesting Black-necked Stilts. Anyone who wishes to meet us a
Bombay Hook should call Nancy or me at the number listed in our
signature block. Wet or not, this should be a good bird trip.
Good birding,
Walter Ellison & Nancy Martin
