This morning I was delighted to find a Northern Waterthrush along the Paint
Branch Trail... my first on the trail, or anywhere! (a lifer) I was able to
see it and could tell it was a waterthrush, but was not familiar with the
song (that's how I found it in the first place). I recorded the song and
once I got to the office, I listened to recordings of both and am certain it
was a Northern (if anyone's interested I'll be happy to send the audio clip
to you).
This morning, I also had my FOY Ovenbird and FOY Cuckoo (probably YB, but
was only a brief look in flight). Yesterday, FOY Indigo Bunting and a good
assortment of peeps (Killdeer, Solitary, Spotted and Yellowlegs sp.). Also,
several adult male Orchard Orioles are around. The trail has been good for
warbling vireos (had them on 3 different days so far this spring). Also
very consistent W-E Vireo, Rusty Blackbirds. A blue-headed vireo last week
on Friday.
Good Birding,
