There are six species of shorebirds at Schoolhouse Pond feeding on the
mudflats. This included 5 Greater Yellowlegs, 2 Lesser Yellowlegs, 9 Solitary
Sandpipers, 9 Least Sandpipers, and 1 Killdeer. The Solitary Sandpipers were
especially vocal, occasionally flying out and over the marshy vegetation.
There easily could have been more shorebirds in the grass/vegetation along
the mudflats adjacent to the pond. Other birds today included 2 Yellow
Warblers, 2 Northern Waterthrush, 3 Osprey and 1 immature Bald Eagle.
