Despite the northerly winds, this morning brought perhaps the best bird so far
in Ft. Bayard Park this spring: a singing male CAPE MAY WARBLER.

Not sure if he was a new arrival or if he's been around a few days and just
waited till today to show himself. There were a few other nice birds today
that are apparently lingering from the weekend:

Blue-headed Vireo
Blue-winged Warbler
Field Sparrow (in general, it seems like Field Sparrows are up a bit and
Chippies down a bit this year)

Though I did not post over the weekend, it was generally quite good in Ft.
Bayard, with sightings similar to what people were seeing elsewhere (flyover
Common Loons, both orioles, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and the aforementioned
Blue-winged Warbler). Prairie Warbler is a species I've had just once in Ft.
Bayard, and that remains true--on Sunday one was singing across Western
Ave. in "Boundary Park" but resolutely refused to come over and join me in the
District.
