Hi --

Barry just got back from seeing the gull and dipping on the sparrow. He had been called by Paul Pisano (about the gull) just as he was parking at the WW II Memorial so hurried off to find the summer-plumaged Franklin's Gull on the golf course fairway. However as predicted, hoards of golfers flushed the bird, which flew off, I think Gary Allport saw it later on the Potomac off the point but Barry understands that it didn't stick around. It might be relocated (one place to look would be Hunting Creek)

Barry and three other birders including Gary looked for the sparrow at the usual haunts but there were (per Gary) far fewer migrants around today and Barry saw one Chipping Sparrow. No sign of the Clay-colored. He did see a Cuckoo (sp, flyby), Ovenbird, Hermit Thrush, Brown Thrasher and several Ywllow Warblers.

I was working in our garden and had a BT Blue, Yellowthroat and Parula so expect it was a good migrant day somewhere!
