I've been hearing what sounds very much like a
Meadowlark the last few weeks at home. There is a
farm nearby although not so close that i should be
hearing the call so clearly and the hay crop is
getting a bit tall. I had been wondering if there was
another bird whose song (at least at the beginning)
sounded similar. Then on TUES (4/29) a White Crowned
Sparrow perched outside a window and, i think, several
times gave the song i had been hearing, although i
guess it is possible there was another singer in the
background out of my sight.
So to the question: Am i hearing a W-C Sparrow
instead of a Meadowlark? I did look at the sonograms
in my very old Golden guide, but there was no
similarity that i could detect...
