I was amazed to see a Yellow-Crowned Night Heron fly
over Academy Heights last night, my row-house
neighborhood that seems to support mostly House
Sparrows. I have had both species of night herons fly
by in recent years. When I visited Lost Lake this
morning in the PV State Park, those YCNH's were
nowhere to be seen. Good looks, however at an
American Redstart.

At lunchtime in Hanover today, Don Mattson and I were
rewarded with flyovers of Cedar Waxwings and a tall
bare tree that held an Indigo Bunting and Blue
Grosbeak virtually side-by-side. Both orioles are
common in this ATV/motorbike-abused wetland mitigation
site on the Howard/AA border. South of the
intersection of Hanover and Race Rds.
