Hi Folks,

Another good day for migrants in N. Anne Arundel Co. While at work today I talked to Elaine on the phone, and she had just viewed another new bird for our Ferndale yard--a beautiful male BAY-BREASTED WARBLER. I spent a lot of time looking for it when I got home, but it appears to have moved on.

Late in the afternoon Elaine and I headed over to Fort Smallwood, hoping to add BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER to the county list. We were not disappointed, as the basic-plumaged bird reported earlier was still around, along the sandy beach just to the south of the fishing pier. As an added bonus, we had a female WILSON'S WARBLER in the vegetation along the water's edge, and also enjoyed listening to the haunting song of a VEERY near where we parked the car.

From Fort Smallwood, we headed over to Bill Hubick's place nearby, and arrived at exactly the same time that Leo Weigant was arriving to deliver a Records Committee package to Bill. The four of us sat and chatted in Bill's back yard, enjoying a nice variety of birds there, including as many as eight COMMON NIGHTHAWKs overhead. The real prize, though, was a terrific look at the LINCOLN'S SPARROW that has been gracing Bill's yard, not more than 20 feet away.

What a great evening, during a great migration.
