I finally found time to chase Bill's LINCOLN'S SPARROW today, and after 30
minutes polishing off my coffee and agitating his neighbor's junkyard dog
with my mere presence, I heard it. After hearing it for about thirty
seconds, I still could not actually see it, and the neighbor's dog was
getting really ticked. So I strolled on over to Ft. Smallwood.

Before I made it to the park, I heard two MARSH WRENS in the reeds. Inside
the park, I was unable to locate the previously seen Black-bellied Plover,
but there were a couple SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, and SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS on
the beach near the hawk watch (The most of the raptors on the list below
were seen in the hour I spent with the hawk watch). Two SNOWY EGRETS and a
LESSER SCAUP flew past before I departed.

In the interior of the park, adjacent to the standing water by the
maintenance buildings, was a single DARK-EYED JUNCO.

Great morning to be out- but I can't wait for fall...
Good birding-
