Hi again. 

After Fort Smallwood, my wife (Fiona), son (Kermit) and I had a picnic at
Lake Elkhorn in Columbia. A GREAT EGRET briefly fought a Great Blue Heron
for wading territory, but the younger (or perhaps wimpier) Heron threw in
the towel. 

There were still several species of shorebirds (see below) on on the flats
at the upper part of the lake in the company of a very vocal Mute Swan. 

Kermit was disappointed I could not hand him a Gray Catbird.
