A number of birders went to Cylburn this morning. Unfortunately, the
great numbers of Blackpolls and Magnolia Warblers were way down today.
The Bay-breasted Warblers were not to be found. A singing Hooded
Warbler was new though.
While some of the more intrepid folks went down the stump-dump trail,
I saw what seemed to be a Pine Siskin in the spruces by the stump-dump
road (across from the parking area). My look was brief and from the
bottom only. I was hesitant to believe my eyes at this season. But
later, when the dump-trekkers rejoined me, Pete Webb called out that
he heard a Pine Siskin flying overhead from the direction where I had
seen it about a half-hour earlier..
