I spent all day yesterday birding some of my favorite spots in
western Allegany and eastern Garrett Counties, many of which
have been reported upon recently by others. In particular, I was
pleased to find the following birds in both counties:

Black-billed Cuckoo (Old Legislative Rd, Finzel Swamp)
Yellow-billed Cuckoo (Dan's Mountain SP, Finzel Swamp)
Northern Mockingbird (Rock St in Westernport, Russell Rd)
Cerulean Warbler (Dan's Mountain SP, Westernport Rd)
Grasshopper Sparrow (Old Legislative Rd, Russell Rd)
Baltimore Oriole (Dan's Mountain SP, Savage River Rd)

Other highlights were singing WILLOW FLYCATCHERS, YELLOW-BREASTED
CHATS, and HENSLOW'S SPARROWS at the Old Legislative Road site in
Allegany County. Highlights in Garrett County included a silent ALDER
FLYCATCHER and a couple of very vocal COMMON RAVENS at Finzel
Swamp, a singing BOBOLINK on Lancaster Hill Road, and a WILD TURKEY
that very sedately crossed the upper end of Russell Road.

It was a great day (but still no Golden-winged Warbler, alas).
