Hi Everyone,
Yesterday I birded a WHOLE block of the Gwynn Falls bike trail at Carroll Park in Southwest Baltimore City . Found very few birds . Of interest was a Older Immature Black Crowned Night Heron. I thought it was unusual to see this bird here. As i was walking about 50 feet from the stream it flushed and flew upstream . I was able to get some pictures through the trees and then some Grackles started mobbing it so it flew off upstream . As i was taking picures of 2 Mallard in the water the Nightheron was flying back down stream and got in the picture . I refound it as i was leaving sitting in the brush next to the river .It definitely had an all black bill . Other birds here were Warbling Vireo , Red eyed vireo, Great blue heron , Catbird , Mockingbird, A. Robin, American crow , . Didnt see the Oriole family who were misplaced from last weeks storms. I was concerned for their safety in the open area of the golf course . I tried putting them in a tree stump
but they werent happy with it. The bigger one tumbled over to the river side of the bike trail and so i moved the little one there too. Hope they are fine.
