I spent a few hours this (Sat, 6/21) morning at the Kenilworth Aquatic
Gardens and Kenilworth Park with Gary Alport, Frank Hawkins & Barry Cooper.
Our list was about 48 species (posted on ebird), with the highlights being 1
adult YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON continuing around the ponds, and the
singing ALDER FLYCATCHER still at the end of the first boardwalk (to the
left as you walk out). It would be nice if a mate showed up to join this
local rarity, though one wonders how much longer it's going to keep trying
(this bird has been here for about 4 weeks).

Kite bait was high (ie, lots of dragonflies), but alas, we did not see any
kites of any species. Perhaps they didn't show up until later in the day
(wishful thinking).

On the way home I stopped by the Anacostia wetlands. At least 3 WILLOW
FLYCATCHERS could be found there, along with lots of other birds (typical
assortment). There's still a fair amount of water here, so conditions
remain good.

Cheers,
