Fort Smallwood Bird Walk: 6/15/08

Hello all.

The Fort Smallwood Bird Club met and walked the park on this warm Sunday 
morning.  We found some good breeding activity.

Species seen/heard:

Canada Goose
Mute Swan
Mallard
Double-crested Cormorant
Great Blue Heron
Osprey: one of which was eating a White Perch
Killdeer: including one mother on-nest
Herring Gull
Great Black-backed Gull
Mourning Dove
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Northern Flicker
Downy Woodpecker
Eastern Wood-Pewee: pair on territory
Great Crested Flycatcher: first one was seen sitting on a picnic table
Eastern Kingbird: including one pair attending to their nest
Blue Jay
Crow sp.
Tree Swallow: including 3 young
Northern Rough-winged Swallow: including 2 young
Barn Swallow
Carolina Wren
Eastern Bluebird
American Robin
Gray Catbird
Northern Mockingbird
Brown Thrasher: three different breeding territories
European Starling
Pine Warbler
Eastern Towhee
Chipping Sparrow 
Northern Cardinal
Red-winged Blackbird
Common Grackle
House Finch
American Goldfinch

Spicebuch Swallowtail: 2
Tiger Swallowtail: 1
Orange Sulphur: 2
Monarch: 2
Buckeye: 2
Eastern Tailed-Blue: 1
