Hi All,
After getting organized in our new home here in Windsor Mill, Md I have
finally gotten around to finishing the job of editing and posting some of
the highlights from my week of birding and photography with my best friend
from Norway.

We focused most of our efforts on warblers and we had great luck in
finding 26 species between the 16th and 23rd of May. Max. day count was a
total of 22 species at Soldier's Delight and McKeldin on May 17, the
Norwegian Constitution Day. Of other species reported during this week, we
only missed Blue-winged, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Wilson's Warbler. I
found several Wilson's and Kentucky Warbler the day after my friend
left.......
A round trip around the Eastern Shore including Bombay Hook (in pouring
rain) and Prime Hook NWR in Delaware, Blackwater NWR and a late evening
trip along Elliott Island Rd. helped bring the total species count for the
week to 176. The damages after the devastating storm surge along Delaware
Bay were apparent everywhere, with beach access roads dug out and sand
dunes swept away and marshes submerged in seawater. Fortunately, the
surrounding fields and beaches were alive with shorebirds and we counted
tens of thousands of plovers, dowitchers, Dunlins, peeps, turnstones and
small numbers of Red Knots. Only life bird to me was Chuck-will's-widow as
the two other lifers hoped for, Black Rail and Piping Plover were no
shows. However, my friend ticked off a substantial number on his life
check-list and went home with a full hard-drive and a big grin on his
face. Good times!
