It seems like Marcy and I are taking heat for what we heard. I admit that
we did not see the Cerulean, but we heard what we heard, and we compared the
sound to the sound of the National Geographic software that we had with us.
There were no other birders there at the time. Listening to the recordings
referenced below does not change my mind.

This was also a spot where the Cerulean had been verified in the past.

We reported what we heard, to the best of our ability. I didn't have the
photographic proof, sorry.

Regards,

Dave, go to this page and listen to the Cerulean vs Northern Parula:

I'm thinking what we heard could NOT have been a parula as suggested by Paul
Woodward. I think it is looking good for Cerulean. Hopefully, these
gentlemen will make their way down the towpath and hear for themselves.

Hello Paul / Mike / Jim,

Question: Was the Cerulean Warbler you heard on the canal towpath (you
mention a > "trail") about 1/2 mile downstream of Sycamore Landing?

Answer: Yes. (We were following directions Dave had received at sometime in
the past from Mike.)

It would be great if one of you were in the vicinity and could hear the
song. I heard various Northern Parulas that day, but none sounded like the
warbler we heard on the canal towpath.

Unlikely this was a Cerulean Warbler. I haven't found any here since 2006.
Mostly likely a Northern Parula singing its cerulean song which is a very
good match for a cerulean. Without a sighting I wouldn't accept this record.
