Perhaps as a replacement, i might offer the (unnamed) walking Catbird ("Walker" - ?) that appeared in the yard more than a month ago.  This bird first attracted attention by the odd way it was holding one wing loosely rather than tucked up in the normal fashion.  I have watched it many times since then hop for long distances across the yard, although it has demonstrated that it has the ability to fly weakly.  Yesterday, it grabbed some plastic from my neighbors mulch pile and hopped with it to my briar patch where it may be preparing a nest.  About a week ago i came upon a pile of grey feathers and assumed the worst only to discover "Walker" was still among the living although a near realation had been less lucky...
