For many years, hummingbirds only came to our yard after the Rose of Shannon bloomed.  This year I planted Tobacco plants (deer don't eat them) and a male hummer has been here daily.  Dennis and I remember how popular Tree Tobacco is in California and Central and South America.
This is sure easier than dealing with a feeder.
