Greetings and here is the latest report on "Bill":
If you missed earllier reports, a White-throated Sparrow showed up in our yard on 29 May. We named him "Bill" because he had an obvious defect on his bill. Since that time his upper mandible appears to have mostly fallen off. He also has some kind of growth on his forehead where the upper mandible was. Nevertheless, he comes every day and joins us for coffee and whatever he can get off the ground. He seems to be eating well and has survived through June.?He's kind of cute but it seems a lonely existance when all his buddies headed north in May. What will happen to him? Stay tuned.
