Hi all,
We have 3 bluebird boxes up here in our yard, and all 3 are currently
occupied. We have 2 bluebird nests, each with a single egg (as of last evening),
and another bluebird box on the far side of the fence, which I have not checked
recently but am fairly certain contains a House Wren nest (with or without
eggs). The Brown Thrashers seem to have finished nesting, as there is no
sign of them around the house now, just in the back of the property near the
fields. We found the shell of a N. Mockingbird egg (identified by Alli) in the
garden over the weekend, so they are nesting somewhere around too. Chipping
Sparrows seem to have nested in the conifers in the front yard, and Robin young
are seen in the yard now.

In the evenings I have been watching and listening to both E. Phoebe and
Great Crested Flycatchers in the cherry trees along the border of our property.
Last night we saw a juvenile Bluebird catching bugs (?) in the vegetable
garden, while an adult male watched from a nearby tree. Lots of activity still at
the seed feeders, as well as the hummer feeders, and as we have 3 bird baths
(well, one is more of a fountain), we are getting regular visits for drinks
and bathing too.

Hardly have to leave the yard to go birding...

Stay cool,
