Mr. Armistead mentioned seeing post breeding swallows which reminded me that yesterday at the Aberdeen Proving Ground I has more than 200 Tree Swallows (50/50 mix of adults and juvies) on a phone wire.

OT / RFI> this past weekend while in the Northern Tier forests of PA I had a bird singing which i could not ID. The song lasted 5-7 seconds and consisted of a warbling vireo-like warble followed by a chipping sparrow-like trill. These two phrases were repeated a total of three times before the song ended. The song was very lovely and continuous; as I said it lasted 5-7 seconds each time it was song. The habitat was dense, dark, moist ravine with mature hemlock, spruce, and maple. The ground was covered in fern and there was a swift moving stream running below.

-any help on the later would be appreciated... Other birds in the area included Blackburnian Warbler, Magnolia Warbler, BTB & BTG Warbler, Junco, Thrushes, etc...

 Thanks,
Chris Starling
