I planned a trip for today to the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens to see if
the YCNH was still around. When I read in the paper this morning that
there was a Water Lily and Lotus Asian Culture Festival there today, I
almost didn't go.
I avoided the crowds there to photograph the flowers, taking the River
Trail, which produced a few birds, but no YCNH. Returning to my
starting point, in the restored marsh nearest the parking there stood
one juvenile Yellow-Crowned Night Heron, not far from the trail. Success!
The blossoms were also awesome, and it turned out that there was another
juvenile YCNH posing near the far end of the central pools.

Great blue heron
Great egret
Green heron
Blue-gray gnatcatcher
Wood duck
