Hello, friends. Labor day is only about a month away, which means
it's almost time for the annual Turkey Point Hawk Watch. Turkey Point
has a growing reputation as a Hawk Watch site. No other site has
birds that fly so close.

Once again, we need volunteers to count hawks every day from Labor
Day through Thanksgiving. If you haven't done this before, you're in
for a treat. Turkey Point is chock full of fall migrants of all
kinds, making the walk in as much fun as counting the many hawks that
pass Turkey Point on their way south.

This year, we would ideally like to test whether the hawk watch
meadow is indeed the best place to observe. If at all possible,
having at least two observers there some days--one at the usual spot,
one at the point itself--would allow us to compare their data. I hope
many of you will be able to volunteer to help with this.

As always, we are grateful for those who can commit to a steady
schedule (e.g., every Monday) and those who can fill in as needed, or
commit to only a few days during the season. Any and all are welcome.
The important thing is to have someone there on any day when it isn't
raining. Right now all days are open, except Tuesdays.

Please let me know if you can help with this fun and often
fascinating project, or if you have questions.

I apologize if you get this message more than once.
