A growing number of active local birders have discovered how
convenient and useful it is to use eBird, a joint effort of Cornell
Laboratory of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society.
eBird just announced the implementation of some new and terrific
tools for managing your records (which are all kept securely on the
eBird computers).
Many of us newer eBird users (and I am one) have managed to set up,
quite inadvertently, duplicate locations in our My Locations lists
and up to now have had no way to combine the duplicates. Likewise we
have been probably unaware that eBird has a "Shared Location" (that
all eBird users can use to store sightings) that is very close to one
or more of our own "Personal Locations." The new tools make it easy
to combine our own Personal Locations with existing eBird hotspots so
that all eBird users can share our sighting information.
To read about these new capabilities in detail, go to:

Any eBird user who notices inconsistencies, duplicates or incorrect
naming of the hotspots in Maryland, D.C., or Delaware, can bring them
to my attention and I can most likely make the necessary
corrections I assist eBird with the administration of hotspots in
this part of the Mid-Atlantic.
To get a flavor of what fascinating information eBird is capable of
providing, go to "View and Explore Data" on the home page at
http://ebird.org/. I promise you, you'll be impressed.
Thanks and good eBirding!
