I relocated the Black-headed Gull in Eagle Harbor this morning (8/20). There was a large number of Laughing and Ring-billed Gulls at Trueman Point and the residential piers along the Patuxent. However, I found the Black-headed Gull on the pilings south of town near Chalk Point, at roughly the same location I found it last Wednesday. The bird flushed as I approached in my kayak, and flew back towards the north and Eagle Harbor.

The bird landed on one of the residential piers in town with a couple dozen Laughing and Ring-billed Gulls. This time, it allowed a closer approach and I got photos of the bird from about 75 feet as it rested on a piling and when it flew overhead. After watching the gull for about 10 minutes, it lifted off and headed back towards the south again, perhaps to the same pilings near Chalk Point. I saw no sign of the hybrid gull seen several times last week.
