There were 3 Sandwich Terns on Skimmer Island at Noon on 8/23/08. They were
observed on the west side of the island. On the east side of the island from
3rd St, the two Marbled Godwits were still present.

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick note to report that the two Marbled Godwits were still present
on Skimmer Island this evening. Also, with a bit of luck and magnification,
I was able to count 6 Sandwich Terns on the island. There may have been a
couple more even, but I could confirm these 6 by their pale-tipped black
bills and their size (smaller than nearby Royal Terns and larger than nearby
Common Terns).

Pretty fun when you can pick up two state birds on the "way home" from work!
Many thanks to Dave Powell for the discovery and George Jett for the report.

Have fun,
