Thanks to several calls from Jim Stasz about the RNPH at North Beach, I was able to deviate on my way to work this morning and see the phalarope. It was on the far south end of the marsh up against the phragmites. Jim reported an American Avocet which neither Winger West nor I could relocate. I tried looking for it in the Herrington Harbor area without luck.

It was just starting to rain and I was able to obtain some poor photos of the phalarope. As George Jett says, I can claim it as a photographed bird in MD. Certainly won't make National Geographic!

Subject: [MDOSPREY] Red-necked Phalarope, North Beach, Calvert County

 Hi all,
I birded North Beach Marsh tonight in Calvert County, there were quite a few birds around; by far and away the best being a juvenile Red-necked Phalarope hanging out at the south side of the marsh.  I was soon joined by Jim Stasz and we were able to turn up a few more birds.  The bird was still present when we left at around 7pm.
