On my way to work this (Friday, 8/29) morning I made a quick swing
through Hains Pt (East Potomac Park, DC). It was pretty quiet - no
shorebirds at all and very few passerine migrants. However I got a
close but brief look at a young female MOURNING WARBLER. The bird was
seen in the tangle of brush at the south end of the golf course, viewed
from the maintenance road that cuts across the point. Only other birds
of note were a PIED-BILLED GREBE on the river and 2 COMMON
YELLOWTHROATS.
Good birding,
