Today (8/30) at Little Bennett, I came upon some chickadees that were scolding something in the bushes. A snake maybe? I never did see it. But a remarkable number of birds came down to take a look and join in on the scolding.
Most interesting of the birds was what I believe to be a Brewster's Warbler. This bird was associating with a Blue-winged Warbler. I got only two looks at the bird and only saw the head and upper chest. The face and breast were white. The face had no pattern except a distinct black eyeline. The bird has a bright yellow cap that extended from the base of the bill up to, but not beyond, the crown of the head. I did not see its wings, tail or underside.
Other birds in this flock included:
5 Red-eyed Vireos
1 Blue-winged Warbler
1 Nashville Warbler
1 Northern Parula
2 Chestnut-sided Warblers
3 Magnolia Warblers
2 Black-and-white Warblers
1 Canada Warbler
1 Common Yellowthroat
1 American Redstart
2 Veeries
1 Brown Thrasher
5 Carolina Wrens
Also at Little Bennett today I had a Blackburnian Warbler, Ovenbird, Scarlet Tanager and Raven. Eastern Wood Pewees were everywhere.
