After just getting back from a Labor Day weekend beach getaway, I can
confirm the lingering of a few Ocean City migrating shorebirds that
have been seen around over the past week. Sorry for being a few days
late, but I had no email access.

As of Friday the 29th, the American Golden Plover on the Turf Farm
next to Wright's Market outside of Salisbury and the 2 Marbled Godwits
on Skimmer Island persist. I spent most of that morning at these two
locations, with briefer periods devoted to chasing, but missing, the
Upland Sandpiper reported from OC airport and the Eurasian Collared
Doves at South Point. Also on Skimmer Island were the usual host of
shorebirds, although in greater than reported numbers (probably
because I was there at peak low tide), which included a pair of
Black-bellied Plovers and three Little Blue Herons (two juv. white and
one adult). I also had two Whimbrel fly over Hoopers towards the Inlet
at around 11:30am.

Also seen on Skimmer was one family of about 6 Homo sapiens tearing up
the dunes with clam rakes. DNR didn't get there in time to tell them
that they'd have better clamming success in the water.
