This morning Finzel Swamp had quite a few migrants. Warbler numbers seemed
up from this weekend and even just yesterday. I got into a couple good
flocks and managed 11 warbler species including one CANADA WARBLER and 3
CAPE MAY WARBLERS. Also in one of these mixed flocks was a single WINTER
WREN. Given how much time I've spent at Finzel doing research the past two
years, I consider this a good bird because it's the first I've seen out
there. Finally, another highlight was a single SWAINSON'S THRUSH which I
first heard chipping near the parking area and then tracked down for some
very good looks. All in all it was a good morning, but would have been
better with more eyes, as I can only guess what birds I missed in those
warbler flocks. For a complete list, see below:
