Hi Folks,

I went by this afternoon to check out the shorebirds that Saundra Byrd had
found at the back of the new Quarterfield (Crossing?) Shopping Mall where
Quarterfield Rd. crosses I-97 in northern AA Co. Bill Hubick joined me
there later. The rundown:

Canada Goose--25
Mallard--61
Hooded Merganser--1 juv
Cattle Egret--2
Killdeer--3
Solitary Sandpiper--1
Lesser Legs--2
Least Sandpiper--3
Barn Swallow--2 (starting to get hard to find around here)

These two storm water ponds are about the largest and nicest I have ever
seen, and the close pond currently has good shorebird habitat. Being close
to my house, I will be checking the place periodically over the next several
weeks. Many thanks, Saundra, for bringing this interesting venue to our
attention; I would have otherwise avoided this place like the plague.

Hi Everyone,

I stopped at my new favorite spot this morning before work. The pond behind
the new Super Walmart on Quarterfield road. Off I 97 Glen Burnie Area .
Looks like a new manmade pond . I guess has something to do with the new
stores? Anyway there were 59 Mallard, 6 unident. shorebirds , 3 Canada goose
, 2 Cattle egret, 7 new moths and a Katydid. great day

Saundra Byrd
