I know that Goldfinches are late nesters and over the past couple of weeks I 
have seen the newly fledged begging for food and being fed by Daddy.  I 
guess I just missed Mommy helping out.

However, for the past several days Cardinals have joined in the begging 
routine and are being fed.  This morning I heard this pitiful crying, 
something like the meow of a sick Catbird.  It turns out it was Blue Jays 
doing the begging with wings all twittering and Mommy (or Daddy) stuffing 
them.  The Cardinals and Blue Jays were being fed sunflowers and nuts from 
the feeders.
