Jim Wilson mentioned seeing recently fledged cardinals, and I can vouch
for a nest in my back yard (Gaithersburg) which produced at least one
fledgling cardinal last week. Also, in the last week of August (yes,
this is old news) I found a fledgling Song Sparrow in my back yard, and
in Green Farm Park (by the Montgomery Co. Airpark) that week I saw a
family of Downy Woodpeckers with very young-looking kids, an Indigo
Bunting feeding a youngster that still had pin feathers on its wings
(how was it going to migrate like that?) and a deer fawn in spots! Love
indeed!
