After visiting Rock Creek Park this morning (9/20, see Wallace's post),
I went over to Chain Bridge in hopes of seeing a raven. This is my 3rd
weekend trying, and my 3rd failure. But it's always an interesting
raptor show, even without seeing a raven. Today I saw 1 RED-TAILED
HAWK, 1 RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, 1 COOPER'S HAWK, 1-2 OSPREY, and 1
PEREGRINE FALCON. The falcon spent much of the time harrassing other
birds - mostly TURKEY & BLACK VULTURES, but also the Red-shoulder. In
previous visits this month I've seen Bald Eagle, Sharp-shinned Hawk and
American Kestrel.
Also noteworthy was a PHILADELPHIA VIREO in the trees next to the
intersection of Clara Barton Pkwy & Chain Bridge.
Good birding,
