Cromwell Valley Park HawkWatch Monday, 9/15/08

The cold front that came through mid-morning was accompanied by nice scattered clouds, a WNW wind and a somewhat slow but steady hawk flight. Things began to get good at 4:20 pm when the first of several kettles of Broad-winged hawks appeared losing altittude north-east of the valley. By 5:40 pm a kettle of 66 BWs was seen descending into the woods just north of us. We expect to see at least some BWs lift off on Tuesday morning and hope for larger numbers as the week progresses.
