Lou DeMouy, Stephanie Lovell, and I spent a pleasant morning on
10/16 at Green Farm Conservation Park (aka Lois Green C.P.) in Gaithersburg.
Warbler migrants were much thinner on the ground than in the past few
weeks, with Yellow-rumped by far the most common. We did have 3 Palm
Warblers and a nice immature NASHVILLE WARBLER. Other highlights
were a pair of Wood Ducks on the lower-elevation pond, a flyover
NORTHERN HARRIER, a skulking HOUSE WREN and a good variety of
sparrows, with SAVANNAH, SWAMP, FIELD, and CHIPPING in addition to
the usual Song and White-throated Sparrows.
