On Sunday the 19th at about 9:00 am we witnessed a large number of Golden-crowned Kinglets feeding somewhat frantically on a sunlit, wooded hillside. This occurred where Green Creek empties into the Gunpowder Falls on the Cone Scout Reservation property, located about halfway between Harford Rd. and Belair Rd. Larry and Anne Craig, along with my wife Joanne and I, were thrilled to see almost every tree around us in a 40 yard radius with several Kinglets in each. I say they were feeding frantically because they took little notice of us, and several came very close, one almost landing on Joanne! Only a handful of Ruby-crowned Kinglets were seen with this group, along with several Tufted Titmice, Black-capped Chickadees, 2 Brown Creepers and 1 Blue-headed Vireo. We estimated the number of Golden-crowned Kinglets between 60 and 100 birds! Quite amazing!!!
