This afternoon a total of eight Pine Siskins showed up at my thistle
feeders and birdbath here on Leeds Creek near Tunis Mills. Earlier this
year up to 24 Pine Siskins came here and hung around from January until May.
The last one left on May 23rd. Today's birds made no claim to having been
here before, but they made no denial of it either.

An additional treat this afternoon was a visit in the yard by two
immature White-crowned Sparrows. These were the first of 2008 for this
location.

At one point the eight siskins, two White-crowns and one House Finch
were all using a single birdbath near the house. It is really quite dry
over here so the new arrivals greatly appreciated the fresh clean water.
