I was a homebody most of today but was delighted when some unexpected guests
showed up.  Over a dozen golden-crowned kinglets spent the entire day
flittering among the dozen mature white pines behind my house.  Remarkably,
they tended to come to the lower branches when any of my kids were beneath
trying to get a look.  I had not one golden-crowned in my yard the past few
years so this was a nice surprise.  I hope they stick around and help locate
the screech owl that has been irregular the past few weeks, calling after
dusk and just before dawn.
