Hello all.

Cool temperatures and a steady wind blowing across the peninsula added a degree of challenge to the Fort Smallwood bird walk yesterday. I am glad to report that we had a total of 16 birders and all came away with some good seasonal birds. The Creepers were a thrill for all and a lifer for some.

Highlights (out of 40 total species):

Double-crested Cormorant
Good numbers of RB, Herring and GBB Gulls
Black Vulture
Northern Harrier
Cooper's Hawk
Eastern Phoebe
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
Ruby-crowned Kinglet: 4+
Carolina Chickadee
Tufted Titmouse
White-breasted Nuthatch
BROWN CREEPER: 2 Found both on same tree
Palm Warbler: 3 yellow
Myrtle Warbler: 4
Eastern Towhee
Chipping Sparrow
Song Sparrow: 25+
White-throated Sparrow: 10+
Dark-eyed Junco
House Finch
American Goldfinch
