Hi Folks,

Yesterday Elaine and I spent much of the day in Harford and Cecil Counties,
picking up a couple county closeouts, and several very late migrants. We
began at Swan Harbor in Harford, where I felt sure I heard Dickcissel twice,
but not being able to see the bird left some lingering doubt that makes me
reluctant to count it. Other birds of note:

Saturday, 1 Nov:

    Swan Harbor, Harford Co:

PB Grebe--1
N. Harrier--2 (1 imm, 1f; county closeout)
Sharp-shinned Hawk--1
Forster's Tern--1
NASHVILLE WARBLER--1, well viewed by Elaine, myself, and John Taylor who we
joined for a short while

    Perryville Comm Park, Cecil Co.:

Am. Black Duck--2
N. PINTAIL--1 hen
Ruddy Duck--79 (county closeout)
PB Grebe--2
Am. Coot--170
Brown Creeper--2
N. PARULA--1

Elk Neck State Park, Turkey Point, Cecil Co.:

N. Harrier--1
Barred Owl--1
RED-EYED VIREO--1

Today Elaine and I headed down to Charles Co. to do a little birding and
a little history. The birds:

Sunday, 2 Nov:

    Indian Creek WMA:

Red-headed Woodpecker--2
Brown Thrasher--2
Palm Warbler (yellow)--1
JOEL MARTIN (this is not a bird)--1, who was very helpful in pointing out
the woodpecker locations and helping me find Palm Warbler; it was the first
time here for all three of us

    Dr. Samuel Mudd Historic Home

Red-shouldered Hawk--1
ROCK PIGEON--5 (a tough bird in Charles Co.)
E. Phoebe--1
Horned Lark--15
Am. Pipit--25

It was great being out in the marvelous autumn weather, despite today's
heavy breeze.
