Hey everyone-

As mentioned earlier, today I was able to finally see my nemesis bird, the Northern Shrike, on my tenth try for the species, and my ninth in MD (eight at Cromwell Valley last winter!).
Kevin, Graff, John Dennehy, Joe Turner, and I arrived at the spot near Centreville at around 10:00 am, but the bird had not been seen yet. After leaving the spot to check out Great Oak Pond, we got a call from Winger West saying that the Shrike had popped up and was being viewed in the trees along the private road. Hurrying back, we saw four scopes all pointed in the same direction- a good sign. Sure enough, the Shrike was sitting in the top of one of the trees. It was a good distance down and above the road, so pictures weren't fantastic, but I was just ecstatic to finally see the darned thing! Afterwards, we headed to Great Oak Pond and Horsehead Wetlands Center (Chesepeake Bay Environmental Center), from which Kevin will probably post the lists later.

Pictures are up at:

Good luck to anyone who goes after this awesome bird!
