Hi,

For years I have tried to match wits with the squirrels so they wouldn't eat ALL the bird seed. For a feeder with no type of squirrel guard, one tactic has been to use safflower seed as the furry friends are not supposed to like safflower. In the past this has worked well, as most birds that like sunflower also eat safflower. For the past few weeks, however, at least one squirrel has eaten the safflower as if it were sunflower. I have not seen this before.

On a different subject, this morning 3 Black Vultures were squabbliing on a neighbor's roof. I suspect the neighborhood folks would appreciate vultures that close.
