Hi Everyone,

Today was our coldest morning so far this fall, but at least the NW winds were light. Doug Ruby, a herpetologist and birder from UMES, joined us today. It was also good to run into Mikey and Jo Anna at Bayside, and we got to bird with them for part of the morning. Two SU students are hanging tough: Dana Bronecke, who hasn't missed a week since she started and who has just registered for an eBird account, and Patrick Masterson, who comes out now and then.

Nothing extraordinary to report, but we're still enjoying those large concentrations of Surf Scoters. Mikey spotted a Merlin that spooked up some robins as it shot through. A Fox Sparrow continues at the far western end of Bayside. American Goldfinches were moving through in small numbers, and we heard a single Pine Siskin. Who knows what other finches might be passing by there today...

Have fun,
